The explosion from the mine office rocked the town. The orange fireball lit up the night as it rose above the peaceful streets.

Kane and Knocker took up positions on either side of the main street, waiting for the inevitable to happen. A few minutes later, two SUVs pulled up, and armed men climbed out. Both operators opened fire, pouring bullets into the armed force.

Two men went down with rounds in their chest as Kane fired at them. Across the street, he could see Knocker, who was firing with a steady rhythm and picking each target with his shots.

Kyle Jackson's men were caught unawares. The two former Team Reaper shooters methodically killed each one. It was over within seconds. They walked out from cover and stood over the bodies.

There were seven in all.

“What are we going to do with them?” asked Knocker.

“Leave them,” Kane replied. “It serves as a warning.”

“What are we going to do now?”

“Call it a night. Give them something to think about.”

White appeared. “Was that alright?”

Kane nodded. “Yes, it made a big enough bang. You know what you have to do now.”

“Go for the state troopers.”

“That's right. Don't use the phone because they'll be monitoring them.”

“What are you two going to do?”

“Wait and see what happens next.”
